    Update to Tarot Reviews

More and more of the site is finally getting moved over. The Tarot Reviews section is now here, along with a new review: The Daughters of the Moon Tarot. I hope to add review of the following decks sometime within the next month: Lover’s Path Tarot Touchstone Tarot The Process audio book Maat Tarot Liber T Tarot Llewellyn Tarot Approximately half of the Tarot section has been moved over.  My goal is to have everything here, and the old site properly redirected, by the end of March.  What can I say, when you have a toddler, things take a lot…

    Disbelief is Best?

A little while ago I watched the Bill Maher documentary (mockumentary?) Religulous.  He essentially takes a look at the Big Three religions and points out just how silly their literal beliefs are.  He talks to a Vatican priest who thinks that most Christian beliefs are ridiculous, a Muslim rapper from the UK who sings about planning bombings, a Jewish rabbi who thinks the Holocaust wasn’t all that bad, and some true believers at Florida’s Holy Land Experience.  Maher pokes fun at them all, but also seems to be truly trying to understand why people need to believe is some big,…

    Anubis Oracle, Tell Me True

Back in December, I signed up for a free teleconference about an oracle deck I had picked up a little while before. The deck is The Anubis Oracle, by Nicky Scully and Star Wolf, illustrated by Kris Waldherr (who created The Goddess Tarot and The Lover’s Path Tarot).  I was really interested to hear what the creators had to say about the deck, partly because I was a little skeptical about it.  The deck, accompanying book, and a sister book (Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt) are all the result of channelling.  And, as I’ve said before, I’m not sure how I…

    Tarot Section Started

While I may not be moving along quite as quickly as I would like, I have finally started the Tarot section. Actually, I started it a while ago but forgot to post about it. With luck, and a time machine, it should be finished up by February. Problems with the navigation menu have also been fixed. Apparently the newest code for the ShareThis plugin broke the menu. So, ShareThis has now be removed until it there is a fix.

    Wicca Section Nearly Complete

After months of work, the Wicca section of The Lotus Pond is almost back up.  I just have a few more articles from the Rant section to post, and everything will be done.  Then it is on to the Tarot section. Once the Wicca section is complete, I will have the old pages forward to the new pages. I’ve also changed the site’s look.  The theme still needs a bit of tweaking, but I am happy with the over all appearance.  Let me know what you think using my contact form.

    Gaian Tarot in 2012

Joanna over at the Gaian Tarot Artist Journal announced yesterday that she has a publishing contract for her wonderful deck: Gaian Tarot Publishing News. The deck is on tap to be published by Llewellyn in 2012.  I sincerely hope they do a good job on this lovely deck.  But, for those who don’t want to wait, or aren’t so sure about Llewellyn decks, Joanna will be offering a special collector’s edition of the deck.  I’m starting to save my pennies already. In semi-related news, Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf are offering a free phone lecture about there wonderful Anubis…

    Writing of the Spirits

There are a couple of books that I am (sort of) currently reading that were at least in part channelled (either from a divine or semi-divine entity).  Since I am not completely sold on channelling, I am wrestling with how I should value these works.  If, in fact, they weren’t channelled at all (that is, the author consciously wrote the works themselves), are they worthless?  Or what if the works are more of a super- or sub-conscious channelling on the part of the author, rather than coming from another entity?  Without knowing the author personally, how are we to know?…

    Still in Progress

It is taking a bit longer then I antcipated to rebuild The Lotus Pond in Word Press.  I’ve been busy with the baby, work, stitching, etc.  But The Pond will be back in fight form soon. The Cross Stitch section is complete, and the Wicca section is about 1/3 of the way finished.  Once I have transfer everything over, the old pages will redirect to the new pages.  I will also be looking into a new theme that is a bit more intuitive, and a little less white. In the meantime, please check out my regular blog, Reflections in the…

    A Little Empty

I’ve been feeling a bit spiritually empty lately.  It is not that I am dissatisfied with my religion, but more that I am unhappy with how I practise it (or, more accurately, how I don’t). It pretty much comes down to the fact that being a mom is difficult.  The Baby Man is nearly nine months old, and far from being self sufficient.  (Although he can hold his bottle now, so that’s a start.)  So, while he is awake, everything revolves around him.  Sure, I can get in some knitting or cross stitching once in a while, while he is…
